Mom's Buggy

Click Images for a closer look.

This fiberglass bodied buggy was built by my Dad, before he passed in 1999, for my Mom.

It is based on a 1968 VW Beetle belly pan, with new pan halves, that has been shortened 13 inches.

The body was found out in a farm field in rough shape. Dad paid $50.00 for it, and did all the fiberglass and paint work himself. He used old frame parts and pipe to build the rollbar and windshield frame (which has an automotive windshield installed).

The dash is flat aluminum stock with swirls applied using a 1 inch wire cup in the drill press.

The motor is stock 1973 Super Beetle except for 88mm pistons and cylinders, mechanical distributor with Petronix ignition and header exhaust.

The tail lights are aftermarket '64 mustang fixtures. The steering wheel is a 12 inch 3 spoke. All wiring was done by myself from scratch.
